About Ali
As you know, I’m Ali Pierucci, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Denver, Colorado. I believe there’s no right or wrong way to get better. It’s my job to help you find the path that works for you.
My clients typically come to me to recover from trauma (such as rape or sexual assault), loss, grief, PTSD, addiction, and depression.
My social work studies trained me to assess people from a bio-psycho-social-spiritual perspective. This means I will help you find solutions in the context of your environment and experience. You’ll develop a variety of coping skills and be given the right tools to manage your individual symptoms. We may explore a variety of techniques, even mind-body therapies.
I’m truly passionate about helping people recover from trauma and loss. The strength I see in survivors of trauma is astounding, and I’ll make every effort to unearth your resiliency as you travel your path to recovery.
My practice respects all aspects of people including race, ethnicity, gender expression, sexual orientation, social-economic background, age, religion, body shape, size, and ability.

Methods I Use
One in four people experience a mental health crisis each year. If you’re dealing with depression, anxiety, or another mental health problem, talk therapy can help. As your therapist, I will lead you through a collaborative treatment approach using what comes naturally to most of us: talking. You have the benefit of speaking openly and honestly, knowing I am trained to remain objective and nonjudgmental. I’ll help you identify patterns in your behavior and/or thought processes that may be holding you back, giving you skills to work through current and future problems.
About The Methods
I incorporate a variety of methods and sometimes a combination
of methods during psychotherapy treatment.
-
EMDR
Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing therapy (EMDR)
If you’re in the process of healing from trauma, EMDR may be beneficial. It’s of particular benefit to people who have had limited success with traditional talk therapy. Founded by Frances Shapiro, EMDR is a treatment approach that has been proven to work for survivors of trauma. It’s a form of psychotherapy that’s designed to work quickly and efficiently--healing the mind as the body might heal a wound. It accelerates intellectual and emotional processing. Learn more.
What You May Experience as a Client
Clients who have been engaged in EMDR report a reduction in the severity of distressing PTSD symptoms, such as nightmares, sleep disturbances, flashbacks, anxiety, and irritability.
-
Brainspotting
Brainspotting
Brainspotting is a tool clinicians like myself use in the therapeutic process. It’s often used to help people who have experienced trauma. It works “neurobiologically” to release the experiences & symptoms of trauma that are typically out of reach of the conscious mind.
What You May Experience as a Client
Results from brainspotting are similar to results from EMDR--reporting a reduction in the symptoms of PTSD as well as reduction in the negative feelings associated with surviving traumatic events. Clients experience less distress when they are “triggered” during day-to-day life by something that reminds them of the traumatic event. They are impacted less and better able to use the tools needed to better regulate their lives.

Clients I tend to work with include and are not limited to medical and legal professionals, other clinicians - therapists and healers; activists and volunteers; survivors of family violence and trauma; survivors of a loss; survivors of sexual assault; survivors of transgenerational trauma; survivors of sociopolitical oppression; folx living with a chronic illness; and folx living in recovery; and/or folx working on a 12 step program such as Alanon or CODA who want to address trauma symptoms. I work best with folks who have a few years clean and sober. I also do some therapeutic coaching with professionals looking to expand or grow their business; pass an exam; and or work through a negative belief that is inhibiting growth.
Collaboration
I frequently collaborate with other therapists or specialists to make sure your care is coordinated and that you can connect to all the resources you need. If we are working on a trauma and identify that you need more support, I will make a referral to the appropriate professional. I have worked in Denver for over ten years and am very familiar with resources and clinicians in the area. If we are not a fit, I will do my best to match you to someone who might better meet your needs. I frequently see clients who are also working with another clinician - either a couples therapist or a clinician utilizing a different modality of treatment.
